Sunshine State Offers Wealth of Business Grants

Florida offers more than good weather and sandy beaches for business owners. Along with a growing population the state has several grant programs available to help businesses succeed in the Sunshine State.

According to the Florida Department of Commerce website, businesses have a variety of grant opportunities for a variety of needs, including the Gold Key & Business Matchmaker Grants, which are used to generate or increase sales overseas during a SelectFlorida Export Sales Mission.

“SelectFlorida Trade Show Grants offers event-specific, reimbursable to help Florida, small to medium-sized companies generate or increase their export sales overseas,” according to the Department of Commerce. “Attending trade shows is an excellent way to introduce and showcase products and services to a global audience. Receive a grant to help reduce the cost of exhibiting at an internationally focused trade show or exhibition supported by SelectFlorida.”

With hurricane season in full swing, the state also offers a Disaster Recovery Dislocated Worker Grant providing businesses access to federal grants that provide employment opportunities for disaster relief efforts. Employment and training services are available for eligible workers impacted by disasters. The aim is to support eligible workers in minimizing the impact of these events and assist them in finding new employment opportunities, the DOC website said.

The Defense Reinvestment Grant Program provides help with community-based activities focusing on safeguarding existing military installations, promoting diversification in defense-dependent communities and creating plans for repurposing closed military installations.
