Agriculture lags most other major industries in terms of integrating data management through artificial intelligence, but it’s catching up very quickly. AI robots can help with crop picking during labor shortages, and can help businesses save money on irrigation and pesticide application. AI can even help prepare growers for a warming climate, according to researchers at the University of Florida’s Institute for Agricultural Sciences.

AI also is changing how agriculture students are taught, with more emphasis on the technology needed to maintain equipment, fly drones and process information.

The agriculture industry is going through a revolution right now, according to UF researchers, and it will look a lot different in the future.
